Solar Car Parking Shades

The project aimed to create a new urban layout in the car park area near the “Rotonda d’Ardenza”, a Livorno’s waterfront landmark, using eco-compatibility solutions and maintaining the original assets.

REQUIREMENTS:

. Maintaining the original asset of the car park.
. Use an innovative solution for the shelters.
. Use an eco-compatibility solution.

PROPOSAL:

Two types of solar shades have been inserting among the parking spaces, creating an urban draw that does not completely alter the project intervention area but in the meantime increases the area’s appeal.
The panels have been designed as special pieces using a coloured resin by 3M with a limited thickness and weight, where a UV film protector was applied on to maintain the colour aspect of the plate.
On the panels’ edges are then applied an amorphous silicon photovoltaic film that suits with every kind of surface and inclination.
Uprights and main structures have been devised in galvanized steel for a better durability considering the problem associated with the sea proximity.
